SUNDANCE (WNE) — High winds and golf-ball sized hail during a storm on Monday evening caused severe damage at Devils Tower National Monument, leading to a temporary closure of the site.
According to Emergency Management Coordinator Ed Robinson, the damage included blown-over trees, including one that fell on a building, as well as scattered garbage and significant damage to vehicles.
In addition, he said, around 240 people in the Devils Tower area were without power after 13 poles came down. Recovery efforts were well underway by morning.
