Deanna Marcia Cummings, 61, passed away in Newcastle, Wyoming, on Nov. 18, 2025, at Weston County Manor, surrounded by loved ones. 

Deanna was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on Dec. 12, 1963. She is the fifth of nine children born to Peggy Dean Morris and Minfred Edward Smith. 

Deanna married Roy Allen Cummings on Dec. 26, 1983, in Wayne City, Illinois, and together they had two children. 

They moved to Newcastle in 1990 from Greeley, Colorado. Newcastle became their permanent home where they chose to reside and raise their family. 

Deanna was a devoted mother and enjoyed being a part of her children’s sport activities. She loved playing cards, camping, spending time with her family, collecting bells and pig knick knacks, and bowling. 

Anyone who knew Deanna could appreciate these quotes to describe her
personality:

“Head strong and fiercely independent,” “Creature of habit with a sharp tongue and a firm grip on  her convictions,” “A kind of person who would fiercely argue with a GPS and still get there faster,” “A delightful pain in the neck who knows exactly what they want and how they want it.”

Deanna is survived by her children, Roy Allen Jr. (Florence) Cummings of Edgemont, South Dakota, and Jared Dean (Nicole) Cummings of Newcastle; eight grandchildren, Aaliyah Banks, Zoi Rodriguez, Keondre Cummings, Skyler Cummings, Amesha Cummings, Aiden Cummings, Kenyan Cummings, and Kyrstalyn Cummings; great-grandchild, Eliana Hernandez; and eight brothers and sisters, Edward (Lori) Smith, Timothy Smith, Jefferey (Patty) Smith, Sandra (Mark) Schumn, Nolan (Beth) Smith, Gary Smith, Clyde (Melissa) Smith, and Vickie (Patrick) Smith. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Allen Cummings; her parents, Peggy Morris, William Morris, and Minferd Smith; grandparents, Clyde and Ruby Rich, Nolan and Gladys Smith; nephew, Devon Tucker; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Cummings. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Newcastle.
