Day One of 2025 in the Books for Cowgirl Tennis

Wyoming opens with losses to Tulsa and Louisiana Tech

TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 11, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opened its Spring 2025 slate down in Oklahoma at the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational. The Cowgirls dropped the opener to the host Hurricanes, 6-1 and are down 5-1 in their match against Louisiana Tech. Wyoming and La Tech only played the singles portion of their matchup and will conclude with doubles play Sunday.

Elena Trencheva and Ruby Young picked up Wyoming’s lone victories on the day. Young got the victory against Tulsa Saturday morning at No. 4 singles. Young was able to get a 10-7 victory in the third set Super Set to win her contest. Young split her first two sets against Tulsa, 6-4 and 4-6. In the nightcap against Louisiana Tech, Trencheva was able to win in straight sets at the No. 5 position, winning 6-2 and 7-5.

The Cowgirls open tomorrow with their doubles portion of the match against La Tech. In the afternoon, Wyoming will close out the invite with a matchup with Arkansas State.
