Simple obedience proves real love for Christ. Discover why hearing isn’t enough—we must do what God says and live out our faith every day.

Scripture:
John 14:15“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
James 1:22“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves.”
Luke 6:46“Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

Thought:
It’s easy to say we believe in Jesus. It’s even easy to say we love Him. But Jesus made it plain—love and obedience go hand in hand. If we truly know Him and love Him, we will obey Him. Not out of duty, but because our hearts have been changed.

  • John 14:15 reminds us that love isn’t just a feeling—it’s shown in obedience. That’s how Jesus defined love: “If you love Me, you’ll obey Me.”
  • James 1:22 warns us not to deceive ourselves. Hearing God’s Word isn’t enough. We’ve got to do something with it. A changed heart should lead to changed actions.
  • And Luke 6:46 cuts to the core. We can call Him “Lord” all day long, but if we don’t do what He says, we’re not really letting Him be Lord over our lives.

Obedience isn’t about earning salvation—it’s the evidence of it. It’s how we live out the faith we claim to have. Even when it’s hard. Even when the world goes the other way.

Challenge:
Ask yourself today: Is there anything I know God wants me to do that I’m putting off, excusing, or ignoring? If so, today’s the day to take that step. Don’t just listen. Do what He says. You’ll find freedom, peace, and strength in simple obedience.
