Day 3: How Do You Hear God's Voice?

How do you hear God’s voice in a noisy world? Day 3 of this Bible challenge shows how God speaks through His Word, His Spirit, and a still heart. It’s not about feelings—it’s about knowing Him.
Scripture:
John 10:27 – “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.”
1 Kings 19:11-12 – So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.”
Romans 8:16 – “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.”
1 John 5:13 – “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Thought:
Many believers wonder how to hear God's voice, especially when life is noisy and full of distractions. Hearing God’s voice is not about feeling something—it’s about knowing Him through His Word and His Spirit.
- John 10:27 tells us that we hear God's voice because we are His sheep, known by Him. We know Him through His Word, and it is this knowledge that makes us able to hear and recognize His voice. It’s about relationship, not emotion.
- Psalm 46:10 calls us to be still and know that God is God. Feeling doesn't always lead us to hear God's voice, but when we quiet our hearts and minds, we can know His presence and direction.
- 1 Kings 19:11-12 teaches us that God's voice is not always in loud, dramatic events, but in a gentle whisper. He speaks in subtle ways, often quietly, and we need to be still and ready to recognize His voice.
- Romans 8:16 reminds us that the Spirit testifies with our spirit, assuring us that we belong to God. This inner knowing is not based on feelings, but on the truth of God's Word and the assurance of the Holy Spirit.
Challenge:
Don’t rely on your feelings to determine if you’ve heard from God. Instead, know Him through His Word and trust the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. Spend a few moments in quiet prayer, focusing on His truth and listening for His voice, knowing that you belong to Him, regardless of how you feel. And remember, as 1 John 5:13 assures us, when we know Him, we can have confidence that we are His. You will know that you are His and that He is speaking to you.
