DAVID LEE LAWSON

1945–Aug. 20, 2024

David Lee Lawson passed away on Aug. 20, 2024, at age 78. David was born in Newcastle, Wyoming. He was the fourth of Chuck and Jo Lawson’s family of five.

He attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, where he was a brother in the Kappa Sigma fraternity. While at the university, he also joined the Wyoming National Guard.

David moved to Denver, Colorado, where he was a successful certified public accountant for more than 45 years. He was an avid golfer and could tell you about every golf course in Denver. He enjoyed playing cribbage and family games of Canasta. He liked to read his newspaper from front to back and then again. He also spent his spare time reading books on history and his dad’s Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey books. He thoroughly enjoyed his lunches and dinners with his friend Jack and others. He was a member of the Optimist Club, where he received numerous accolades for his work and was on the board of directors for Volunteers of America.

He was the glue that kept extended family members in touch and made many trips to see them. Every year he attended the Newcastle all-school reunion, often going there with his brother, Gene.

He is survived by brother, Eugene Lawson; nieces, Vickie Hays-Rayburn (Chris), Denise McIntosh (Chuck) and Laura Kramer (John); and many great-nieces and -nephews.

Memorial service for David Lee Lawson will be held on Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, 804 S. Emerson Ave., Gillette WY 82716.
