Cross Country Set for 2025 Mountain West Championships

FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2025) – The University of Wyoming cross country program opens postseason action when they race at the Credit Union 1 2025 Mountain West Cross Country Championships, Friday, at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif.
The men will race in an 8k starting at 10 a.m. MT, and the women will run a 6k at 10:45 a.m. MT. Awards will follow at 11:30 a.m. MT.

The Cowboys will race against nine other Mountain West teams, including the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches’ Poll No. 3 New Mexico and No. 23 Air Force. The Cowgirls will take on 11 other teams, also including the No. 9 New Mexico squad. Wyoming will race against Grand Canyon for the first time in a championship meet as they joined the MW just this season.
In the Pre-Championship Poll, New Mexico was tabbed as the champion on both the men’s and women’s side, with the Cowboys picked to finish fourth and Cowgirls sixth. The full poll can be seen below:

At the 2024 Mountain West Cross Country Championships, Cowboys saw their best finish since 2019 when they took third, and the Cowgirls ran to fifth as a team, besting their Pre-Season and Pre-Championship Poll predictions. Wyoming earned three All-Mountain West honors as Kylie Simshauser earned First-Team while Jacob White and Dylan van der Hock were named Second-Team. Â
LAST TIME OUT
At the Pre National meet in Columbia, Mo., the Cowboys, led by none other than Jacob White, finished 12th while the Cowgirls took 29th, paced by Claire Engelhardt.
White finished seventh for his best Pre Nationals place with a time of 23:12.2. Mathis Chavand was Wyoming’s second-best finisher for the first time this season when he ran a time of 23:43.6 for 20th.
On the women’s side, Engelhardt ran a +2-minute personal-best of 21:20.3 for 133rd. She was followed by Marina Trave in 149th at with a time of 21:30.7.
