Cowgirls Travel to TCU for Third Week of Action

UW faces a pair of ranked foes and Rhode Island
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 9, 2025) – For the second consecutive week, the Wyoming Cowgirls will hit the road for a tournament as they travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Fight in the Fort. Wyoming will face a pair of ranked opponents over the three-match tournament.
UW (2-3) will face its ranked foes both Thursday as it takes on No. 23 Missouri at 10 a.m., Mountain Time before closing the day with a 5:30 contest against 15th-ranked and host – TCU. The Cowgirls finish with a Friday matchup with Rhode Island at 3 p.m.
Wyoming is coming off a pair of four-set losses last weekend at the South Dakota State Invitational. The Cowgirls won the first set in both of their matchups with Ole Miss and the host Jackrabbits before dropping the next three sets. Two of the sets against SDSU went to “extra” points.
Addy Cook led the Brown & Gold last weekend with 27 kills. Against the Jackrabbits, Cook tallied a career-high 19 kills and hit .341 in the loss. Cook leads a balanced Cowgirl attack this season as she is one of four Cowgirls with 46-or-more kills. Cook has a team-best 49 kills and is averaging 3.06 kills per set on the young season. Addy Thorington has 48 kills while Sarah Holcomb and Paige Lauterwasser have tallied 47 and 46, respectively. Setting the Wyoming offense is Sara Quigley, who’s 9.94 assists per set this season ranks third-best in the Mountain West.
As a team defensively, Wyoming ranks fourth in the league averaging 2.06 blocks per set while its 14.22 digs per ranks fifth. The Cowgirls also fifth in the MW averaging 12.78 kills and 11.50 assists per set. UW’s .217 hitting percentage is sixth in the conference.
Missouri is ranked No. 23 in the latest AVCA Top-25 Poll. The Tigers are led by Caylen Alexander's 3.75 kills and 4.31 points per set this season. Defensively, Maya Sands leads Mizzou averaging 4.38 digs per set while Tyrah Ariail's 1.13 blocks per set leads the way. Missouri is hitting .276 on the season and is averaging 12.25 assists per set. Individually, Marina Crownover's 10 assists per set paces the Tigers. Mizzou is 1-0 in neutral matches this season.
The host school-TCU is ranked No. 15 in the nation and has a trio of top-25 victories this season (Penn State and UCLA, twice). The Horned Frogs' lone loss came at the hands No. 7 Pitt. TCU is 2-0 at home in 2025 and has a balanced offensive attack, led by Evan Hendrix and Becca Kelley, who have 48 and 41, respectively. Lauren Murphy has 35 kills and leads the team with a .370 hitting percentage. The Horned Frogs deploy a 6-2 offensive formation.
Rosemary Archer has 81 assists while Ella Foti has 79. Alexis Roberson's 17 blocks leads the way. Rhode Island enters the tournament at 2-4 this season. URI is averaging an impressive 2.85 blocks per set and is led by Chloe Abuto's 23 total blocks. Aerin Bowman leads the Rams averaging 1.31 blocks per set. Emma Vente has a team-high 43 kills on the season. Both of Rhode Island's wins this season came via neutral site contests.
