LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 19, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls look to keep the winning going as they make a trip to state of Idaho for a pair of matches. The Cowgirls will play Idaho Friday morning before closing the week with a neutral-site matchup Saturday against Pacific in Moscow. Both matches start at 10 a.m.
The Cowgirls (2-7) are coming off a thrilling victory last Friday at home over Northern Arizona. Serina Abriola was able to make a furious rally to pull out the 5-4 win for Wyoming. Abriola, who was down to match point, trailing 5-2 in the third set, was able to battle back to win that set and eventually would go on to win the third set tiebreaker, 7-4, to secure the 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) win. UW, who won the Double Point in the contest, was also able to get singles wins from Eugenia Ceinos at No. 1 and Dilnaz Mashabayeva at five.
With her win, Mashabayeva is now tied for the team lead along with Elena Trencheva with her third dual win this winter. Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia still leads the Cowgirls with nine victories when including the fall tournament season. In doubles, the tandem of Abriola and Ruby Young got their second win of 2025 last week against the Lumberjacks.
Wyoming won last season’s meeting with Idaho, 6-1 in Laramie. The Cowgirls are 7-3 all time in the series with the Vandals. This will be the first meeting between UW and Pacific.
