LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 6, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team travels to the Midwest to the state of Iowa to face Iowa State in a Saturday contest. The Cowgirls and Cyclones face-off at 1 p.m., Mountain Time.
The Cowgirls are coming off their first victory of the season in their home opener last Friday in an impressive 7-0 win over Metro State. Wyoming didn’t drop a set in singles play in the match and were well on its way to a sweep in doubles before UW clinched the Doubles Point. Elena Trencheva and Ruby Young both picked up their second dual wins against the Roadrunners. Anastasiia Kochelaevkaia, meanwhile, earned her team-best ninth victory overall, including the fall slate.
Wyoming is 3-2 all-time against Iowa State. This will be the first matchup with the Cyclones since March of 2018. That was a hard-fought 4-3 Cowgirl victory in Laramie. This will be UW’s first trip to Ames since the 2017 season, and just the second overall in program history.
