UW faces San Jose State and Fresno State
LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 19, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team hits the road to California for a pair of Mountain West matches this week. The Cowgirls will face San Jose State Friday and Fresno State Sunday. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m., Mountain Time.
The Cowgirls are coming off a pair of hard-fought losses to open Mountain West play last week. UW lost 4-3 in the conference opener to New Mexico before losing 4-1 to Nevada to end the week Sunday. The Cowgirls won the Doubles Point in both matches last week and got singles wins against the Lobos from Dilnaz Mashabayeva and Elena Trencheva.
Mashabayeva now has a team-best six wins in dual action in 2025. In doubles, the duo of Violetta Mashabayeva continued their strong start to the season. For the fall and winter combined, the tandem is now 11-3 overall and is 4-0 in duals. Serina Abriola and Ruby Young also have four wins as doubles partners in 2025.
Wyoming won last season’s meetings against both the Bulldogs and the Spartans. Both contests were played in Laramie.
