Cowgirls Return Home to Host a Pair of MW Foes

LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 26, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team returns home this week for a pair of Mountain West matchups. Wyoming hosts San Diego State Friday at 4 p.m., and UNLV Sunday morning at 11.
The Cowgirls (4-12, 1-3 MW) are fresh off a thrilling 4-3 win last Sunday on the road at Fresno State. Wyoming won a pair of three-set singles contests in the match against the Bulldogs to help pull out the win. In addition to the Doubles Point victory from the Brown & Gold, the Cowgirls also got singles wins from Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia at No. 2, Elena Trencheva, who clinched the team victory, at No. 4 and Dilnaz Mashabayeva at No. 5 against Fresno State.
Mashabayeva and Trencheva lead the Cowgirls with seven and six wins, respectively in dual singles victories this season. Trencheva and Kochelaevskaia have both won three consecutive singles matches. On the doubles side of things, the No. 1 doubles tandem of Violetta Borodina and Mashabayeva won in both matches last week and improved to 12-3 overall and 6-0 in dual matches. The duo is 4-0 in league play and are 8-2 in their last 10 matches played together.
San Diego State enters Friday’s match at 2-1 in Mountain West play but is 0-2 in road matches in 2025. UNLV, meanwhile, is 3-0 and has won five matches consecutively and is 0-1 in true road matches. The Cowgirls are 2-2 at home this season.
