Cowgirls Lose at Spartans

SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 21, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls dropped a road tennis match to San Jose State Friday afternoon, losing to the Spartans 4-0.
Friday’s score was a bit misleading, as Wyoming was leading one set to none in three singles matches before the Spartans were able to clinch the fourth point and the team victory. The Cowgirls were leading at No. 1 singles with Violetta Borodina, at No. 2 with Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia and at No.6 with Elena Trencheva.
The match began by the Cowgirls dropping a slugfest at doubles. It was Wyoming’s first Doubles Point loss of conference play. The team of Violetta Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva remained perfect in league action behind the strength of their 6-0 win at the No. 1 doubles position.
UW looks to move back into the win column as it finishes up on the road in the state of California. The Cowgirls travel to face Fresno State at 1 p.m., Sunday.
