Cowgirls Lose in Four to Boise

Lauterwasser tallies a match-high 17 kills

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 11, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls dropped a four-setter Saturday afternoon at home, losing to Boise State. Set scores went 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-17.

Wyoming was able to get out to an early lead in the match, thanks to winning a back-and-forth battle in the first set. The first featured 15 ties and seven lead changes. After that, the Broncos were able to win the next three sets to come away with the victory.

Paige Lauterwasser led all players with a match-high 17 kills in the win. Lauterwasser also recorded her fourth consecutive double-double as she tallied 12 digs in the loss. Sarah Holcomb and Addy Thorington also finished with double figure kills, notching 11 each. Holcomb hit .417 in the contest.

Defensively, Holcomb once again paced the Cowgirls at net, recording a team-best six total blocks. Jordan Sandy added five blocks. In the back row, Skylar Erickson led UW with 18 digs while Lily LaFlesch added 11.

In the setting department, Sara Quigley led the squad with 28 assists while Maddy Stucky had 21. Erickson and Sandy accounted for both of Wyoming’s service aces in the match.

As a team, the Broncos hit .283 while Wyoming hit .206. Boise State also held a slight edge in team blocks, 14-12. Both teams had two aces in the match.

Next up, the Cowgirls look to get back on track with a couple of road matches next. Wyoming opens the week Thursday at Nevada with a 7 p.m., contest.
