LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 12, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team returns home looking to get back on the winning tract as they host Northern Arizona Friday at 9 a.m. The Cowgirls, who will be playing in their second home match of the season, are coming off a hard-fought 5-2 loss last week at Iowa State.

In the match against the Cyclones, Elena Trencheva and Dilnaz Mashabayeva won their singles matches at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Trencheva rallied to win 2-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-6) while Mashabayeva also rallied from a set down to win, 4-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-5). The win gives Trencheva a team-high three singles victories this dual season.

Wyoming is 5-5 all-time against NAU and won last season’s matchup in Flagstaff, 4-3. In that match, Violetta Borodina got a couple of big wins for the Cowgirls as she won at No. 1 doubles and at No. 3 singles in that February 2024 contest. UW, who is 1-0 at home in 2025, looks to improve to 66-11 at home under Head Coach Dean Clower.
