Cowgirls Fall to Aztecs
Wyoming hit just .079 in the loss
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 31, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team was swept Thursday night at home, falling to San Diego State. Set scores went 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21.
The Cowgirls (13-8, 5-6 MW) were held to just a .079 hitting percentage as a team in the loss while the Aztecs (15-6, 7-4 MW) hit .263. SDSU controlled the net defensively, out-blocking Wyoming 10-3 as a team and recording six more digs. Wyoming had a 4-3 edge in service aces on the night.
Individually, Sarah Holcomb led the Cowgirls with nine kills in the loss. Holcomb and Emma Winter led Wyoming with a pair of blocks each. Paige Lauterwasser tallied eight kills on the evening while Winter had six.
Kasia Partyka had a match-high 30 assists against the Aztecs. The Cowgirl setter also added five digs and five kills while hitting .444. In the back row, Sierra Grizzle led the squad with 14 digs. Winter added eight while Skylar Erickson and Lauterwasser chipped in with six apiece.
Wyoming looks to rebound Saturday at home as it continues its four-match homestand. The Cowgirls welcome in UNLV for a noon matchup.
