Cowgirls Close 2024 Season with Loss at Arizona in NIVC Great 8

Wyoming finishes season 17-13

TUCSON, Ariz. (Dec. 11, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team’s season came to an end Wednesday night on the road at Arizona in the NIVC Great 8. The Wildcats bested the Cowgirls 25-19, 25-18 and 25-17.

The Wildcats (22-9) were efficient offensively, hitting .279 on the night, including .323 in the second set and .297 in the decisive third. Wyoming (17-13) was held to just a .106 hitting efficiency. Arizona also out-blocked the Cowgirls at the net, 9-5 and had a pair of aces to Wyoming’s one. The Cowgirls also committed twice as many serving errors (10-5) in the loss.

Paige Lauterwasser and Kayla Mazzocca led the way on offense with nine kills each. Mazzocca and Kasia Partyka led UW with a .333 hitting percentage each. Defensively, Sarah Holcomb led the way with three total blocks while Sierra Grizzle and Emma Winter each had eight digs to lead the way. Grizzle also had Wyoming’s lone ace.

Partyka finished with 26 assists in the match and closes her stellar career with 3,678 assists and finishes fourth on the all-time career assists list. All three of the former Cowgirls that finished their careers with more assists, played four seasons with the Brown & Gold while Partyka transferred and played just three seasons.

Wyoming, who made it to the Great 8 for the second consecutive season, finishes 2024 17-13 overall.
