LARAMIE, Wyo. (11/5/24) – The University of Wyoming women’s swimming and diving team heads across state lines to face off against rival Colorado State in the Border War this Friday at 4 p.m. at EPIC Pool in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The Cowgirls are undefeated against their front range opponents thus far, but have their eyes set on beating Colorado State next. The Border War rivalry with the Rams stems across all of Wyoming and CSU athletics, but it especially lights a fire under the women’s swim and dive team.
Last season, the Cowgirls came out on top over the Rams with a 171-129 victory. The Cowgirls have won eight of the last ten matchups against the Rams and will look to tally another win against them this week.
“CSU has become a close rivalry that our women look forward to every year,” head coach Dave Denniston said. “This year it is at the EPIC pool in Fort Collins, so we are expecting an energized crowd. We match up against them pretty evenly in a lot of events, so I can see our women having a close meet on Friday. Our sprinters and IMers will have some great races as well as diving being some crucial wins for us to come out on top.”
Following the meet against Colorado State, Wyoming Swim will head to the Colorado Mesa Invite and Dive will compete at the SMU Invitational in Texas later this month.
