Pokes Host Open Practice on Thursday Evening at 7:30 p.m.
LARAMIE, Wyo. (August 12, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys hit the field for the third week of practice on Tuesday morning inside War Memorial Stadium. Wyoming hosted its annual Media Day on Monday, as the team enjoyed an off day.
What Head Coach Jay Sawvel Had to Say
"This will be a vastly improved football team," Sawvel said Monday at UW's fall sports media day. "I think that it's easy to see to anybody who walks out on the field on a day-to-day basis."
Cowboys Have Talented Receiving Corps Back
The Cowboys return some top-level talent at wide receiver in senior Jalen Sargent, an All-MW selection and sophomore Chris Durr Jr., one of the top true freshmen in the nation a season ago.
Durr led the team in receptions as a true freshman with 31 for 348 yards and a touchdown. Sargent averaged 20.9 yards per reception with 480 yards and two touchdowns.
“I think Jovon has done a tremendous job with the players and the expectations and the standard,” Sawvel said. “He coaches them very, very hard.”
“I feel like the potential in the receiver room this year is unlimited, especially knowing the man this year, Kaden Anderson, is going to get it to us every single time,” Sargent said. “We have to make those plays and be confident, especially with a young group. I feel this group has a fire to them. They want to go out there and show they can play.”
