NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 26, 2025) – The University of Wyoming men’s cross country team received votes in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason National Coaches’ Poll, released on Tuesday.

The poll, conducted by USTFCCCA member coaches, ranked the top 30 teams heading into the first week of the cross country season. Wyoming found itself with two votes, good for T-36th. This marks the first time the Cowboys have received preseason votes since the 2020 cross country season.

Last season, Wyoming didn’t see any votes until week three when it finished fourth at the Joe Piane Invitational. Cowboys peaked at No. 20 and finished the year at No. 30 following their appearance in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.

The 2025 season opens for the Pokes this Saturday, Aug. 30, when they host the Wyoming Invite at the Little America Golf Course in Cheyenne, Wyo. The women race at 9 a.m. while the men take the course at 9:30 a.m.
