It Marks MW Opener for Pokes
Laramie, Wyo. (Jan. 2, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowboys will open the conference schedule with a pair of road contests starting with a trip to Reno, Nev. to take on Nevada on Tuesday at 9 p.m. MT. in a contest on FS1. The match up with the Wolf Pack will be the Mountain West opener for the Brown and Gold after Saturday’s contest against Boise State was postponed.

Wyoming finished non-conference play with an 11-2 record. The Pokes went 2-1 at the Diamond Head Classic earning the Consolation Championship. Wyoming had their conference opener postponed against Boise State on Saturday. The Cowboys are shooting 47 percent from the field on the season and holding opponents to 39 percent to rank second in the conference. The Pokes also take care of the basketball with 9.8 turnovers per game, which ranks first in the conference and No. 12 in the nation. The Pokes grab 36.5 rebounds per game to rank fifth in the conference.
The Wolf Pack head into the contest with a 7-5 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. Nevada downed New Mexico at home on Saturday by a score of 79-70. The Wolf Pack are averaging 77.7 points per game and are allowing 75.2 points per contest. The Wolf Pack are shooting .445 percent from the field with opponents shooting 43.4 percent. Nevada is shooting 77 percent from the free throw line, a number that ranks second in the conference.
