Court clerk resigns
After six years serving as Weston County District Court Clerk, Tina Cote submitted her resignation letter to the Board of Weston County Commissioners on Dec. 3. She noted that her resignation will be effective Dec. 31.
Cote was first chosen to replace the former district court clerk, Gidget Macke, after she died in 2019. She was appointed as interim district court clerk on Nov. 5 before being selected through official channels to fill the role in December.
Cote then won her election bid in 2022.
“It has been my privilege and honor to serve the constituents
of Weston County as the Clerk of District Court the past 6 years,” Cote said in the resignation letter.
She told the News Letter Journal that she feels “it is time for me to step down from an elected position and focus on my health and well-being,”
The process to appoint Cote’s replacement will begin upon the date of her resignation. At that point, the Weston County Republican Party will select the names of three individuals to forward to the county commissioners. The commissioners will then choose Cote’s replacement, who will serve the remainder of her term, until 2026.
Cote told the News Letter Journal that she wishes the best for the office and community.
