Rare Element Resources to hold open house

The public is invited to attend a Rare Element Resources open house in Upton on Oct. 9, according to information provided by Kelli Kast, an RER consultant.

“Join us for a celebration of our progress towards the planned Demonstration Plant and an update on the Bear Lodge Project,” an invitation to the NLJ says. “The Bear Lodge mineral deposit is one of North America’s largest, highest-grade, rare-element projects under development, crucial for the nation’s defense and energy.”

The invitation notes that with the help of technology giant General Atomics, RER has advanced its “proprietary, environmentally friendly processing and separation technology, successfully producing >99.5% pure rare-earth oxides — essential components for the critical permanent magnet industry.”

Construction on the plant in Upton is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the open house will feature a groundbreaking ceremony and much more, according to Kast.

“The event will feature some dignitaries and community leaders — and comments by an executive with General Atomics. Rare Element’s CEO, Brent Berg, will provide a short presentation/update on Bear Lodge Project and demonstration plant progress,” she said in an email to NLJ. “We will have various informational items, including a 3D model of the plant (by the University of Wyoming), sample core from Bear Lodge project and information booth/posters. RER folks are there to answer any questions.”

The invitation notes that there will also be a virtual reality experience and refreshments.

Anyone planning to attend the open house should RSVP by visiting rareelementresources.com. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Upton Community Center, located at 916 Ash St. (see advertisement on Page 2).
