Much excitement has surrounded the return of the Weston County Community Cantata. With the new director Walter Sprague, the choir has been very busy during October and November rehearsing for the program. During the seasons of 2017 and 2018, the cantata had not been able to put together a program due to insurmountable issues. But, with old and new members, a new director, and new accompanist Linda Russell, the anticipation of the choir has grown.
Many members of the community have expressed their joy that this program is back this year. The overall fervor expressed to the many members involved has been positive and uplifting, according to cantata participants.
Joined by the Newcastle Bell Choir, under the direction of Russell, the program will start off with a selection of Christmas carols for bells. After that the cantata will perform “Bethlehem’s Child,” written by Victor C. Johnson and Lloyd Larson.
The date of the concert is Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. in Crouch Auditorium. Coffee will be served after the event. The concert is free to all, so bring some guests, and celebrate the birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ, with cantata members. For more information, call Walter Sprague at (307) 746-9462.
