Cody woman dies in motorcycle crash

POWELL (WNE) — A Cody woman died in a May 10 motorcycle crash in the Newton Lakes area. Lisa Akerman was 61 years old at the time of her death.
According to the Park County Sheriff’s Office, Akerman was traveling on County Road 7WC and had just passed the two lakes when “she drifted onto the gravel portion of the roadway on the shoulder.”
Akerman then left the road and crashed, the sheriff’s office said, with her Harley Davidson landing on top of her.
It’s unclear when the crash occurred, because there were no witnesses, but a passerby came upon the scene and called 911 around 5:45 p.m. The good Samaritan got the motorcycle off of Akerman and began administering CPR — and responding sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel from Cody Regional Health also attempted to revive the woman. However, their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, with her death being pronounced at the hospital.
According to information compiled by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the incident marked Park County’s first fatal crash in 2025. There were seven fatalities in 2024.
