Cody man lands in jail for drug possession

CODY (WNE) — Wayne Wright of Cody was recently sentenced to 8-10 years in prison after being caught with both fentanyl and methamphetamine in the fall of 2024.
Earlier this year, Wright pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver; however, he was not sentenced until earlier this month by Judge Bill Simpson in the Park County District Court.
The investigation leading to Wright’s prison sentence began in July 2024 when Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation agents began looking into Korinne Santini, who was suspected of distributing fentanyl in Park County, according to an affidavit prepared by DCI agent Jonathan Shane Reece. During the investigation, DCI agents learned that Wright was also involved with Santini, and that they were traveling to Aurora, Colo., in late September.
In his affidavit, Reece said Wright and Santini were pulled over in Hot Springs County, traveling towards Park County. At this point, Reece explained to the duo that they were being detained and that a search warrant was being obtained for their vehicle.
After Simpson authorized the search warrant, DCI agents uncovered approximately 7,000 fentanyl pills and more than 400 grams of methamphetamine. They also uncovered “sale kits in the trunk which included scales, scoops, and baggies,” according to the affidavit.
