Clerk candidates emerge — Party to meet May 2 to select finalists for commissioners
Three candidates have submitted letters of interest for the Weston County clerk position ahead of a special meeting of the Weston County Republican Party, where finalists will be selected for consideration by county commissioners.
According to information provided by Republican Party Chair Kari Drost, Patricia Baumann, Michael Tooman and Amber Green have each submitted application materials for the vacancy.
The Weston County Republican Party will meet at 9 a.m. on May 2 in the Pinnacle Bank Meeting Room to choose three nominees to forward to the Weston County Board of Commissioners for final selection, as required by Wyoming Statute 22-18-111(a)(ii).
Additional candidates of any party may still enter the race.
Party officials said nominations will be accepted from the floor during Saturday’s meeting. Individuals nominated at that time must bring 25 copies of a resumé or application letter, provide proof of voter registration in Weston County and be prepared to participate in an interview during the meeting, Drost said.
“All interested candidates should prepare to attend the WCRP Special Meeting,” she said.
The candidate interview process will be conducted in a public setting, with county residents invited to attend regardless of party affiliation.
Once selected by the party, the names of the three finalists will be submitted to the county commissioners, who are expected to conduct interviews with the candidates and make the final appointment on May 5.
Precinct committee members have been asked to attend the May 2 meeting or appoint a proxy from within their precinct.
