TORRINGTON (WNE) — National Hibben of Torrington has been appointed by Gov. Mark Gordon to serve as First Judicial District Court judge in Laramie County. His appointment fills the vacancy of Judge Steven Sharpe, who in January announced his retirement after more than a decade of service.

Since 2019, Hibben has served as a circuit court judge for the Eighth Judicial District of Goshen County.

Hibben previously worked as a private practice attorney, municipal court judge for Torrington and Deputy Goshen County Attorney. He also served as a public defender.

“Once again, the Judicial Nominating Commission provided me with three superlatives candidates,” Gordon said in his March 28 release. “Judge Hibben’s consistent application of the law as a circuit court judge and his balanced legal experience will be valuable in his new role.” Hibben’s appointment is effective May 9, 2025.
