Charles Keith Barritt was born Feb. 4, 1928, at the family ranch west of Upton to parents Maurice and Bernice (Horn) Barritt. He grew up in Upton and graduated from Upton High School in 1946.
He married Barbara Alice Giffin on Sept. 22, 1946, and made their home in Upton where they raised their family. Keith worked at the American Colloid Bentonite Plant from his high school years, remaining there for 20 years, until he joined Belle Fourche Pipeline in Moorcroft. He started Barritt’s Pallet Shop and managed the Upton Co-op. He also built and operated the Upton Hardware Store.
Keith loved his boat racing years and was an avid sports booster for his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with family and at his cabin in the Big Horns in both the winter and the summer.
Keith Barritt, 91, of Upton, Wyo., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle, Wyo.
He is survived by his children, Tim (Yvonne) Barritt and Tom (Elizabeth) Barritt, both of Upton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife of 69 years, Barbara; and sister, Irene.
Memorial services were held on Sept. 17 at the Upton Community Center, with Loren Barritt officiating.
