A void exists within the Newcastle Area Chamber of Commerce, and the board of directors is seeking a qualified person to fill that position: executive director. Right now the Holly Borton is filling in as the Interim Director, and will step down once a permanent person is hired. The person they are looking for will lead the business community’s efforts to support and enhance the community. This position offers the perfect place for someone proficient in planning, organizing and overseeing a range of services for members consistent with the vision of the board. As such, this person must be able to work well with other organizations, local governments and be able to advocate for the benefit of members.
The position is full time, requiring 35 hours or more per week. The director must have excellent communication skills, including reading and writing proficiency. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and QuickBooks is a must. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to cope with stressful situations. Research into potential resources, attending conferences and training, assuming clerical duties and managing social media are some of the responsibilities that will be required, among others.
If you can maintain a professional attitude, create a positive and inviting environment, and promote community pride, this might be the opportunity you have been looking for.
But hurry if you are interested. The deadline for applications is Friday, Jan. 24, by 5 p.m. Mail your resume and letter of interest to:
Newcastle Chamber of Commerce
1323 Washington Blvd.
Newcastle, WY 82701
You can also contact the Newcastle chamber at (307) 746-2739.
