Bringing coals to Newcastle
Dear Editor,
Last evening, on Jeopardy, ‘bringing coals’ was presented to the contestant who didn’t know the remaining words fo the jingle. I’ve known ‘bringing coal to Newcastle’ all my life since my mother was from the Newcastle, Wyoming area. I’d like to know what coal-mining country Newcastle, Wyoming was named for and if that country is even around today. If that’s not possible to figure out, I’ll just continue to think of Newcastle, Wyoming, when I think of ‘bringing coals to Newcastle.’ Maybe those coals are still coming to Newcastle.
