Bomgaaars , a retail chain of 86 farm and ranch supply stores headquartered in Sioux City, Iowa, announced on July 8 that the company has purchased the former Shopko building in Newcastle and has plans to open by late fall, prior to the holiday season.
Bomgaars Newcastle store will be holding a hiring fair at the Newcastle Lodge and Convention Center on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from noon to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon for anyone seeking a retail career opportunity (see ad page 10).
“We will be hiring 20-25 people, a mix of full time and part time. We have already hired a manager, Warren Lange, who is transferring from an existing store,” said Torrey Wingert, Bomgaars vice president and chief financial officer.
Wingert said the family owned business has grown and expanded over the past couple years and the store provides products for a variety of people, ranging from small business owners to local farmers and do-it-yourselfers, and Bomgaars is looking forward to “getting started and opening our store front in Newcastle.”
