BEVERLY JEAN EISSLER PUTNAM

Beverly Jean Eissler Putnam, 87, formerly of the Dewey-Burdock area, passed away Aug. 28, 2025, in Hot Springs, South Dakota.  

Beverly was born Jan. 9, 1938, to Elmer Eissler and Elsie Peck Eissler in their home in Hot Springs. Elmer was employed at the Black Hills Army Depot at Igloo where Beverly started school and made many lifelong friends.

The family later moved to Edgemont, South Dakota, where she continued school. 

Elmer passed away in 1952. Elsie married Chester Griffis and the family moved to his ranch north of Edgemont. 

Beverly met and married Lloyd Putnam, a rancher of the Dewey-Burdock area, in October 1954. To this union three children were born, George in 1956, Cindy in 1957, and John in 1958. She enjoyed being a ranch wife and raising their children.  

After Lloyd’s passing in 2010, she moved into Dewey where she lived eight years. She then moved to Edgemont where she enjoyed Senior Citizens, crocheting, and outings with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elsie; two older sisters, Clairbelle and Joyce; son, George; and husband, Lloyd.

Left to mourn her loss are children, Cindy and John; George’s widow, Sue; brother, Arne (Donna) Eissler; grandchildren, Jason, Katy, Chester, Miles, Abby, and Dakota Putnam. Also surviving her are eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild on the way, and many cousins, friends and neighbors.

Christian Funeral Wake will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. James Parish Center in Edgemont.

Christian Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, at St. James Catholic Church in Edgemont, followed by Christian Funeral Committal at Edgemont Cemetery in Edgemont.
