Be grateful for family, friends

Unfortunately, a close community has been riddled with tragedy earlier this week. The residents of Byron and surrounding towns felt shock waves as we learned of the events that took place in a young family’s home. Initially, this is something that we cannot fathom being real, but after some time we all start asking ourselves the “what if” questions.

All too often we forget to check on those around us. Making sure our family and friends, their kids, even coworkers are doing well. This week we are reminded that we need to reach out to those we love and cherish if for nothing else than to say “Hi.”

As the friends and neighbors of the victims come together to attempt to cope with the situation and recover from the shock, tears will be abundant.

However, it’s also a time to remember the family and the shared experiences you’ve had with them.

We join Gov. Mark Gordon in offering our condolences. Our thoughts and our prayers are with the Byron community.

Go Fund Me pages have been created for the families of the victims and can be found at https://gofund.me/2faaf403 and https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-olivia-fight-after-tragic-loss/cl/s?lan…. If you’re able we encourage donations.

Life is short.

You never know when a tragedy can strike your own community, your friends or your loved ones.

Be grateful for your own family. Give them extra hugs tonight and make sure you tell them you love them.
