UW gets a pair of singles wins in the loss

LARARMIE, Wyo. (March 28, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls fought hard, but came up just short in their first match of the week, dropping a tight, 4-2 match against San Diego State Friday afternoon at home.

The Cowgirls got wins at No. 2 and 5 singles in the contest. Violetta Borodina got the win at two, as she dominated the third set in her matchup, 6-0. Borodina split the first two sets, winning set one 6-4 and coming up just short in the second, 5-7. At the fifth singles spot, Dilnaz Mashabayeva won her team-best eighth dual contest of the season. Mashabayeva won in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3.

San Diego State opened the match by winning the Doubles Point. The Aztecs won at No. 1 and 3, 6-4.

Wyoming looks to bounce back Sunday morning as it hosts UNLV at 11.
