A 31-year-old Upton man will serve up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his girlfriend earlier this year.

Tylor Alexander Alvarado, born in 1994, was sentenced Sept. 4 in Weston County District Court by Judge Michael J. McGrady to concurrent terms of six to 10 years in the Wyoming Depart-ment of Corrections for strangulation of a household member and aggravated assault and battery.

The charges stemmed from an April 19, 2024, incident in which Alvarado attacked his girlfriend at their home in Upton. According to court documents, the girlfriend suffered multiple injuries, including facial fractures and extensive bruising to her neck and head. Prosecutors said the assault occurred in front of the couple’s young children. Alvarado, who had recently been released from prison at the time, was taken into custody following the incident and has remained jailed since his arrest.

At sentencing, Alvarado was represented by Jonathan Foreman, a public defender, while the state was represented by Weston County and Prosecuting Attorney Michael Stulken.

McGrady denied a request for probation, finding that Alvarado was “not a good candidate” for community supervision and noting his history of violent offenses. Court records show Alvarado has previous felony convictions, including sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree in 2014, aggravated assault and battery in 2021, and failure to register as a sex offender in 2022.

As part of his sentence, Alvarado was ordered to pay $230 in restitution to the Northeast Wyoming Advocacy and Resource Center and assessed court fees and surcharges, though fines were waived due to his inability to pay. He received 503 days of credit for time served.

The sentence will run concurrently with two earlier convictions out of Washakie County.
