Appealing to Christmas spirit

The Newcastle Ministerial Association starts December with plenty of Christmas spirit. It all begins on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. with a Christmas concert at the Weston County Senior Center. The concert, put on by local talent, will also feature the Newcastle Youth Bell Choir. Refreshments will be available during the event.
But the performance is just a kickoff for the coming week, which is when the association will launch the annual Christmas Appeal. Tables will be set up at Bomgaars and Newcastle Decker’s Market from Monday, Dec. 2, through Saturday, Dec. 7. Donations will be collected to help families and individuals who are in need during the holidays.
“One hundred percent of the donations collected will be divided up equally between the people (whose names) are submitted,” Pastor John Anderson said.
Names of those needing help can be given to organizers at the donation stations. Anderson said that, in previous years, the donations have been very generous. Many families and individuals who would otherwise not have much of a Christmas have been able to celebrate the blessings that Newcastle has liberally given. Donate at Bomgaars and Decker’s during the coming week from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
