COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (11/12/24) – Junior diver Alicia Gonzalez has been named by the Mountain West Conference as Diver of the Week for the third consecutive week after a phenomenal performance off the diving boards at Colorado State.

This signifies Gonzalez’ seventh career Mountain West weekly award, which is quite an impressive feat. In fact, she is now just two awards shy of tying the school record for career Mountain West Diver of the Week awards. Stephanie Ortiz (’07-’10) earned 9 total Mountain West Diver of the Week honors in her career at Wyoming.

Gonzalez had a standout performance against rival Colorado State last weekend. She won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, with NCAA Zone qualifying scores of 312.53 and 330.15 respectively. Gonzalez’ first-place performances, along with top finishes from her diving teammates Natalie Six and Madelynn Appelhans, helped the Cowgirls secure the dual victory over the Rams.

The Wyoming diving teams are back in action next week on Nov 20-23 at the Southern Methodist Invitational in Dallas, Texas. The Wyoming swim teams are competing at the Colorado Mesa Invite in Grand Junction, Colorado, on those same dates as well.
