Bair earns President’s Honor Roll
Eastern Wyoming College has announced the President’s and Dean’s Honor Rolls for the Spring 2020 semester. There were 126 students receiving recognition for achieving high scholastic grades. Of those students, Newcastle’s Lori Bair earned status on the President’s Honor Roll. The President’s Honor Roll recognizes students that are full-time (12 or more credit hours) and achieve a 4.0 grade point average. To qualify for the Dean’s Honor Roll, students must also be full-time and achieve a grade point average of 3.5, but less than 4.0.
 
Tacy graduates
Rebecca Tacy graduates with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education with an endorsement in English from Grand Canyon University. She graduates Magna Cum Laude and with honors. 
While obtaining her degree, Rebecca has worked as a substitute teacher and volleyball coach at Weston County School District No. 1.
Rebecca plans to stay in Newcastle while raising her family and awaiting a teaching position. She plans to further her education by pursuing a master’s degree in history.
Rebecca is a 2006 graduate of Newcastle High School, daughter of Richard and Debra Annis, wife of Levi Tacy, and mother to Abigail and Hailey.
 
DWU awards announced
Despite not being able to gather collectively for the annual Honors Banquet due to COVID-19, several students at Dakota Wesleyan University are still being honored with university awards for the 2019-20 academic year.
Among those awarded were Newcastle students Wyatt Voelker, Cameron Quigley, Lexus Voelker and Makenzie Wagoner.
Wyatt Voelker: 
Wyatt received the Jerry M. Trimble Leadership Award, presented to students who exhibit Dr. Jerry M. Trimble’s qualities of academic integrity, ability to grow and change, and capacity to positively influence students and colleagues. 
Wyatt also received the Harriet N. Houk Scholarship, which is awarded to biology majors who must maintain a 3.0 grade point average each semester and must reapply for the scholarship each year. 
He also received scholar-athlete honors, which are awarded to sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. 
Wyatt also received Honors in Scholarship, given to students who must be in current attendance with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above for all work at DWU and elsewhere. 
He also was placed on the Spring Dean’s List. 
Cameron Quigley: 
Cameron received Scholar-athlete awards and Honors in Scholarship. 
Lexus Voelker: 
Lexus received Honors in Scholarship and Spring Dean’s List. 
Makenzie Wagoner:
Makenzie received Honors in Scholarship and Spring Dean’s List.
 
Ostenson named to Dean’s List at DSU
Cade Ostenson of Newcastle has been named to Dickinson State University’s Dean’s List for the 2020 spring semester.
At the end of each regular semester, Dickinson State recognizes those students named to the Dean’s List. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time and must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher.
