Newcastle students named to Spring 2019 Dean’s List
Black Hills State University has released the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester. A total of 714 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 credit hours. BHSU has also released the part-time Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester. A total of 158 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking less than 12 credit hours
Deann Roby-Whitney, majoring in Composite Social Science, is a part-time student earning placement on the Dean’s List. Full-time students who also earned the honor are: Hannah Cass, majoring in Exercise Science, Carissa Deming, majoring in Music Education, Ashlyn Dollison, majoring in Psychology, Megan Kenney, majoring in Mass Communications, Sierra LaCroix, majoring in Mass Communications, and Kelsey Wood, majoring in Biology.
Black Hills State University is a masters-level state university with more than 4,000 students. The campus leads the region in sustainability efforts and maintains top academic programs in business (AACSB Accredited), exercise science, natural sciences, social sciences, the arts, mass communication, health sciences and education. Weeg and Bondora named to
President’s Honor Roll
Casper College officials have released the names of the 422 students who made the President’s Honor Roll at Casper College for the 2019 spring semester. To qualify, a student must take at least 12 hours and receive a GPA of 3.5 or better.
Huldah Weeg of Newcastle was named to the list, as well as George Bondora of Upton.

Dean’s List Honors
Casper College officials have released the names of the 354 students who made the Dean’s Honor Roll at Casper College for the 2019 spring semester.
To qualify for the award, a student must have a semester GPA of 3.5 or better. The recognition is for part-time degree-seeking students (those taking six to 11 credit hours per semester) and nondegree-seeking full-time students taking a minimum of 12 credit hours. Taylor Spain of Newcastle earned placement on the list, as well as Isabel Nissen of Upton.
Crawford graduates from
the University of Iowa
Payton Crawford, a University of Iowa student from Newcastle, was one of more than 4,800 UI undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to participate in graduation ceremonies in May.
The UI’s spring 2019 graduates had an average cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.16 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, 16 percent of the graduating class graduated with multiple majors and 355 undergraduates graduated with honors.

Sandrini earns degree, named to Honor Roll at Sheridan College
Sheridan College held its 70th commencement ceremony on May 11, 2019. Sheridan College students earned more than 450 degrees and certificates this year. Grace Sandrini of Newcastle is among the students who completed their course work and received a degree or certificate. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies.
“The achievement of a college diploma or certificate is a major milestone,” said Dr. Paul Young, president of the Northern Wyoming Community College District. “Our Sheridan College students continue to excel, while preparing for the next steps in their lives. Congratulations to the class of 2019.”
Sandrini was also named to the Vice President’s Honor Roll for the spring 2019 semester.
The Vice President’s Honor Roll includes 126 students who earned at least a 3.5 GPA or above for the semester with 12 or more credit hours.

UW lists honor roll students
The University of Wyoming lists five students from Weston County on the 2019 spring semester President’s Honor Roll. The President’s Honor Roll consists of regularly enrolled undergraduates who earned a 4.0 (“A”) grade-point average for the semester. To be eligible, students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken for letter grades.
Weston County students who achieved President’s Honor Roll status from UW this semester are Calbi Ausmann, Madison S. Crawford and
Anna N. Gettinger of Newcastle, and Dawson T. Butts and Mikala D. Crain of Upton.

Yanchunis receives degree
from Gillette College
Gillette College held its 29th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2019. Gillette College students earned more than 300 degrees and certificates this year.
