10 Things God Demands of Us

A simple list of 10 clear things God demands of us, straight from Scripture. These truths guide how we live, love, and walk with Him each day.
God’s Word is clear—He doesn’t leave us guessing about what He expects. These aren’t suggestions or religious checklists. They’re heart-level commands that shape how we live, love, and walk with Him daily. Here's a simple list of 10 things God calls every believer to live by.
1. Love Him First
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
God doesn’t want to be a part of our life—He wants to be our life.
2. Love Others
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39)
We can’t say we love God if we refuse to love the people He created.
3. Obey His Word
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
Obedience is proof of love, not legalism.
4. Seek Him Daily
“Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)
He wants relationship, not religion.
5. Deny Self
“If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)
It’s not about us—following Christ means surrender.
6. Be Holy
“You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
Holiness isn’t perfection—it’s being set apart for Him.
7. Forgive Others
“But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses.” (Matthew 6:15)
Unforgiveness blocks blessings and fellowship with God.
8. Trust Him
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Faith means we trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense.
9. Share the Gospel
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations...” (Matthew 28:19)
We’re all called to be a witness in whatever way God allows.
10. Be Thankful
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Gratitude keeps our heart right before God.
These 10 things aren’t about being perfect—they’re about being willing. God looks at the heart, and when we truly desire to please Him, these things become a natural part of our walk. Let’s keep growing, keep seeking, and keep living the way He’s called us to.
