Updated guidelines β More families may qualify under new WIC guidelines
The Wyoming Department of Health has updated income eligibility guidelines for the Women, Infants and Children program, effective April 1, and introduced new digital tools to improve access for families.
The WIC program provides nutritious foods, education, breastfeeding support and health and social service referrals to pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to age 5.
Under the updated guidelines, eligibility is based on household size and income. For example, a household of four may qualify with a monthly income of up to $4,957, or $59,478 annually. A single-person household may qualify with a monthly income of up to $2,413, while a household of eight may qualify with income up to $8,349 per month. Larger households have higher income thresholds.
Participants who receive SNAP, TANF or Wyoming Medicaid automatically meet income requirements, and children enrolled in KidCare CHIP are now also automatically eligible.
To qualify, applicants must live in Wyoming and be pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding, or have children younger than 5.
Families can apply by contacting a local WIC clinic or by using the programβs online participant portal to apply, schedule appointments, upload documents and communicate with staff. Applicants are required to provide proof of identity, income and residency and complete a health and nutrition assessment.
