Trio earn postseason honors — Newcastle’s Swentesky named all-state goalkeeper

Cami Willyard’s Newcastle High School girls soccer team earned three postseason honors following the 2026 season, led by goalkeeper Christine Swentesky’s selection to the All-State team.

Swentesky and midfielder Zadyn Allen were named All-Conference, while defender Ashlyn Leonard received honorable mention All-Conference recognition.

Swentesky became the first Lady Dogie to earn all-state honors in three years.

“Christine had 85 saves on the season and was fearless on many crosses and 1 v. 1 situations,” Willyard said. “Her best games were against some of the toughest competition in the state, including 22 saves against third-place Powell.”

Allen made an immediate impact after returning to soccer following a multi-year absence from the sport.

“After taking a few years off from soccer, Zadyn joined the team this year and had a huge impact for us,” Willyard said. “She was a very dynamic player and used her speed to create dangerous opportunities offensively for us.”

Allen scored two goals during the season and was a fixture in the Lady Dogies’ midfield.

“Zadyn was a workhorse from 18 to 18 and involved in most set pieces,” Willyard said.

Leonard earned honorable mention recognition after moving into a key defensive role for Newcastle.

“She did an awesome job
for us this season stepping into a high-pressure defensive role unfamiliar to her,” Willyard said.

The honors also bode well for the future of the Lady Dogies’ program, as all three players are expected to return next season.

“We’re excited to have all three players back for us next year,” Willyard said.
