Tire blowout crash kills two on I-25
DOUGLAS (WNE) — A fatal crash at mile marker 151 in Converse County killed two and sent one to the hospital on June 9, according to a press release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Jhosemar Samaniego Fernandez, 39, and Juan Samaniego Fernandez, 25, both from Colorado, were killed when a tire on the 2001 Chevy Tahoe they were driving in blew out. The truck spun and rolled over three times. Both Jhosemar and Juan were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Joel Samaniego Fernandez, 25, and also of Colorado, was ejected during the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Banner Health in Casper and hospitalized.
A fourth passenger, who was not named, was not ejected and escaped without injury.
The primary cause of the accident is believed to be the blown out tire.
This brings the total number of fatalities on Wyoming roads to 54 in 2026.
