Supporter of fine arts

I only write when I have something significant to say! Saturday, the Weston County Arts Council hosted the Cabin Fever Blowout. The Weston County Library was co-sponsor and received half of the donations. It featured two local authors, three artists, and an open mike featuring several musicians. Wilbur was fortunate enough to be one of the artists along with Pastor Ron Sample, and Walter Sprague from the News Letter Journal.

We had never attended any of the council’s events, and quite frankly didn’t expect very much. Wow, were we surprised! The hours-long program was organized by the council’s executive committee, and, they were a well-oiled machine. 

Tom Voss did much of the organizing and executing. He is totally efficient and kept everything running smoothly and on time. When I complimented him, he said, “The many years working in the hospitality industry taught me that skill.”

People came and went throughout the afternoon and evening if they were not able to stay for the whole afternoon. We have never attended a showcase before and the variety presented was truly amazing! Well done!

The final headliner was Deacon Ken Pitlick’s granddaughter, Kenna, who is only 14 and has already produced a CD with some of her original works. I predict another Faith Hill. 

The program was so varied that I would encourage all of you to check them out.

Our community has so much hidden talent and so much to share. Spectacular!
