No substitute for speed

Worland runs away with play-in game

For the Lady Dogies, the 2017 season all came down to last Saturday’s contest against the Worland Lady Warriors, and as the squad headed over the mountain they knew the challenge that awaited them in the pivotal state tournament play-in game.

“Worland is a good team, and when we played them earlier in the shortened tournament game, they beat us 7-0,” head coach Bryce Hoffman began. “They are a team that overwhelms you with their speed, so we knew we would have to be ready for that.”

Unfortunately, Hoffman’s crew got off to a slow start, and that allowed their opponent to take an early lead that Newcastle was never able to overcome. As a result, they ended the game— and ultimately their season— with a 1-6 loss.
