Men’s Golf in 15th Following Day 1 of the R.E. Lamkin Invitational

CHULA VISTA, California (3/9/26) – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team completed Day 1 of the R.E. Lamkin San Diego Invitational on Monday. The Cowboys are in 15th as a team at 597 (+21) in a tournament being played at the San Diego Country Club.
“You’re going to have situations like this with a young group,” head coach Joe Jensen said. “It’s just one of those days. We didn’t play well. We are doing good things, and we had good preparation leading up. This just happens in sports. My focus is to keep the confidence up.”
San Diego sits atop the leaderboard at 557 (-19). Long Beach State’s Alejandro De Casto leads the pack at 133 (-11).
Brody Knowlton paces the Pokes at 147 (+3), which positions him in a tie for 46th. He carded an opening round 77 (+5) and then went low with a second round 70 (-2) that featured a trio of birdies.
Brody Leid is tied for 59th at 149 (+5). Leid had a much stronger Round 2, firing a 72 (E) after opening with a 77 (+5).
Kellen Ball was nearly the exact inverse of Leid. Ball shares 62nd place at 150 (+6) following a first round 72 (E) and a second round 78 (+6).
Kristof Panke is tied for 70th at 151 (+7). He recorded a Round 1 score of 76 (+4) and a Round 2 score of 75 (+3).
Conner Scheich’s score of 157 (+13) is dropped. He’s tied for 90th. Austin Barry, who’s competing as an individual, is tied for 92nd at 158 (+14).
The third and final round gets underway Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
