Meghan Vogt notches win for Wyoming as spring schedule opens

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Cowgirl golf opened the three-day Mountain Classic Matchplay event with a 3-1-1 loss to Montana State on Monday at The Classic Club.

Senior Meghan Vogt birdied holes No. 14 and No. 16 to close out Maddie Montoya, 3&2, for Wyoming's win.

Cowgirl freshman Kiley Reisner birdied No. 18 while Lauren Greeny bogeyed the final hole for a two-shot wing that tied the match.

The Bobcats won the other three matches to avenge last year's 3-2 loss to the Cowgirls in the event co-hosted by UW and Boise State. 

In the other pairings, Utah Valley defeated Boise State, Nevada defeated Gonzaga and Washington State defeated Weber State.

UW will be paired with Weber State for Tuesday's round.

Annie Buffolino (Boise State) over Ellie Barry (Wyoming), 3&2

Jamie Hards (Boise State) over Erika Cook (Wyoming), 8&6

Montana State over Wyoming, 3-1-1

Utah Valley over Boise State, 4-1-0

Nevada over Gonzaga, 3-0-2

Washington State tied Weber State, 2-1-2
