Sept. 10, 1979–June 17, 2026

Lisa Kay Alberts, 46, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2026, in Reno, Nevada, alongside her longtime partner, Jason Thomsen. 

Lisa was born on Sept. 10, 1979, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Dennis and Georgia Alberts. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1998.

Lisa’s greatest joys were her three children, Caleb, Carli and Colton. Lisa and her family spent most of their early family years in Moorcroft, Wyoming. They enjoyed camping and fishing together and did this frequently. They often traveled together from as far east as Wisconsin to the West Coast. Most recently, Lisa and Jason were traveling together along the West Coast, sending photos of their travels and beautiful places they had been. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. 

She is survived by her children, Caleb Tipton of Gillette, Carli Tipton of Gillette; her mother, Georgia Alberts of Sheridan, Wyoming; sisters, Amy (Bryan) Martini of Sheridan, Sara (Steve) Hofmann of Spearfish, South Dakota, Michelle (Ryan) Switzenberg of Sheridan; grandmother, Eleanor Sturdevant of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family. 

She is preceded in death by her son, Colton Tipton; father, Dennis Alberts; sister, Stacey Frank; brother-in-law, Jesse Frank; grandfather, Curtis Sturdevant; and grandparents Russell and Hattie Alberts. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lisa and Jason at the St. Onge Community Center, St. Onge, South Dakota, July 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.
