Another quick home winner for Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 29, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls made it a 2-0 week at home with another impressive 4-0 victory Sunday. This time, the Cowgirls defeated San Jose State to close the weekend in Laramie.

“The execution from each girl today was great, even in warmups” said Head Coach Dean Clower.

“It was good. Much, much better than last weekend, so I was pretty happy. Tough, tough kids. They are fighters, they don’t go away, they don’t go down.”

 

Wyoming (10-6, 3-3 MW) got the day going with a strong showing in doubles play to secure the point early. The Cowgirls won at No. 1 as Silver Bijlsma and Violetta Borodina took care of business, 6-2. At the third position, the team of Serina Abriola and Ruby Young made it a 2-0 week together, as they won quickly, 6-1.

In singles, UW got straight-set victories at No. 1, 2 and 4 to come away with the shutout win. At No. 1, Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia battled to a 6-4, 6-4 win to clinch the match. Bijlsma had another dominant performance at the second spot, as she won 6-1 and 6-1. Madlena Orlova rounded-out the singles wins for the Cowgirls as she came away with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Next week, Wyoming hits the road for a pair of conference contests. The Cowgirls face Air Force Thursday morning at 10 before traveling to take on New Mexico at 11 a.m., Saturday.
